Depressed Much

Chapter 1
I kissed your brow
and made promises
to watch, to protect
knowing I’d never
live up to their mother
who was leaving
way too soon.

Chapter 2
There were no veins
left for the taxol
to travel through,
but we had
breakfast with
the Amish for you
the last time
we spent together.

Chapter 3
I can’t get them
out of bed
so far away,
sending pictures,
dressed and showered,
complete with make-up
and clean clothes,
because they have to.
