Dada Dance

South Writ Large

The world is whimsy.

I was leaning on the bar in Raffles,
sucking down GTs against malaria
and chatting up the Aga Khan
when Ava Gardner sauntered in.

I simply had to ask her to dance.

Homeless birds gurgled,
cats sang on electric wires:
Telephones chirped.
Outside, a Tsunami sucked,
all the limes were ‘quashed’.
Nothing was plain to see.

Oh, loveliest sweet Ava,
come away and dance with me.
